about
This song adresses one of humanity's oldest problems: Evil, injustice and suffering are with us. Yet God expects us to trust him. How can we do that?
lyrics
Apocalypse
When I was a child I thought the world was just,
all I'd have to do for fairness was to trust,
boy was I in for a bad surprise!
Life has bled me wise,
and so I cry,
cry for all the children who've been wasted
without learning why.
You who made the world do give me leave to ask,
how could you set us this drive-you-crazy-task
to trust you through all this death and sorrow?
You have let them grow,
and so it's vain,
vain to hope that if we dare the desert,
you will give us rain.
Evil can make sense once we sent God away,
then the world is dark, but we thought anyway
that we'd have to fight for every breath,
beating death by death,
but there's a clue,
that if even now we dream of heaven,
then it might be true.
You who wears the crown of thorns take me along,
even without faith I can tell right from wrong,
and I would not change that for God's favor:
God has to be good,
and so I pray,
pray that you can save the wasted children
and have come to stay.
